RESURFACER & TOPPING
(MPST)
1. Product Description
- Is a high-quality, polymer formulated to be mixed with portland cement and sand, for resurfacing concrete floors.
- When MPST is combined with Portland cement and sand, it becomes a highly mobile, thin-bond resurfacer that is easily workable, but with controlled sag and flow characteristics.
- Its adhesion and flexibility characteristics allow application to variety of surfaces to produce a new, bondable surface compatible with essentially all types of coatings, flooring adhesives and floor covering materials.
- Is user friendly, environmentally safe, odorless, non-flammable, surface penetrating unique multi-purpose coating/topping material.
2. Basic Use
- MPST is ideal for resurfacing old, worn, rough, or abraded concrete surfaces prior to installation of floor covering materials.
- If floor coverings are not to be used, MPST will provide an attractive finish that is extremely durable. It provides a breathable membrane that further limits the moisture vapor transmission process. The membrane becomes incredibly hard with elastomeric properties.
- When properly installed, calcium chloride test readings will be at levels of most flooring manufacturers' specifications (If readings are above 5 before MPST application, apply SEAL100 first to concrete).
- MPST is a protectant, dustproofer and waterproofer. Protection of the floor will continue throughout the life of the concrete slab.
3. Primary Applications
- Excellent for resurfacing old, worn, rough, or abraded concrete surfaces prior to installation of floor covering materials.
- If floor coverings are not used, MPST will provide an attractive finish that is extremely durable.
4. Features and Benefits
- Mix with sand and cement to create a highly mobile (but with controlled sag and flow characteristics), extremely hard, durable topping.
- Can be mixed with thin or thick for use as self-leveling or towel-on grout.
- Provides extra strength, integrity, flexibility, and optimum finish on subfloors for adhesive bondability.
- Reduces moisture vapor transmission.
- Waterproofs concrete, yet allows it to breathe and move.
- Provides chemical/ acid resistance.
- Easy to use and safe to apply.
- Balances pH levels and remains resilient.
- Long lasting.
5. Directions for Use
- Always start with a clean bare floor. Remove all residual adhesives, dirt, grease, curing compounds similar, etc.
- Mix proportion: add to each gallon MPST, base solution: 3 to 6 pounds of Portland cement and an equal amount of clean, washed sand (3 pounds each produces a thin topping; 6 pounds each creates a grout-like consistency).
- Mix procedures: add cement to MPST continuously until it reaches a smooth consistency (no lumps). Now add sand and mix until free of lumps. Immediately wash mixing equipment.
- Apply mix at the rate of 75 to 300 square feet per gallon (depending on profile of floor). Pour enough mixture on floor and let self-level, or spread uniformity, depending on fluidity.
- Let dry to a non-tacky state, so soft-soled shoes don't mark it. Good ventilation/ heat accelerates drying time.
6. Precautions
- Protect areas not intended for coverage, as product is very difficult to remove later. If contact occurs, remove immediately with water and rags.
- Do not apply when ambient temperature drops below 55F.
- MPST has a minor, almost insignificant trace of VOC. Incidental skin contact is not hazardous, but ingestion or eye contact should be avoided.
- For more information, refer MSDS.
